The Old Fashioned Sussex County 4th of July Celebration is a private event held at Georgetown Speedway, which is private property.
By entering the grounds, all guests, vendors, exhibitors, volunteers, and staff agree to the policies below. The event is organized by Mid-Atlantic Promotions and is patrolled by event security in cooperation with local law enforcement.
For the safety of everyone attending, all guests and their belongings are subject to a security check as a condition of entry. Bags, backpacks, coolers, strollers, and other carried items may be inspected at the gate. We encourage you to travel light and to leave large bags at home — smaller bags move through the entrance faster and help keep lines short.
Should event security identify the need for further screening, the event reserves the right to conduct additional inspection of any guest and their belongings as a condition of gaining entry or remaining on the grounds. Anyone who declines to be screened may be denied entry.
The following items may not be brought onto the grounds. This list is not exhaustive — event security has final say on any item not specifically listed.
Weapons of any kind, or objects that appear to be weapons, are prohibited and may not be brought onto the grounds. Regardless of whether you are licensed to carry or not, all concealed or open-carry firearms — whether registered or unregistered — including handguns, rifles (including semi-automatics), shotguns, antique firearms, black powder rifles and shotguns, and any muzzle-loading firearms are prohibited.
Other prohibited weapons include, but are not limited to: any variety of knife (see exception below), switchblade, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, cane sword, club, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic or metal knuckles, nunchucks, sandclub, sap, slingshot or wrist-brace slingshot, shuriken or "throwing star," razor, imitation or replica firearm, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon (or an imitation that could reasonably be mistaken for one).
A non-locking folding pocketknife or jackknife with a blade no longer than two and one-half (2½) inches is permitted. Anyone entering with such a knife must display it in a folded condition to the security officer at the gate before entering.
Active-duty and qualified off-duty sworn law enforcement officers may carry a concealed firearm provided they present a valid badge and law enforcement photo ID to the security officer at the gate before entering.
This exception does not include current or former members of the military, retired or former law enforcement officials, or private security personnel.
Guests will have the opportunity to discard any prohibited item at the entrance or return it to their vehicle before entering. Prohibited items turned over to security at the time of entry are considered confiscated and will not be returned.
These policies exist for one reason: so that families across Sussex County can celebrate America's 250th together, safely. Thank you for helping us keep the celebration welcoming for everyone — and for supporting Georgetown Fire Company Station 77 and Georgetown EMS Station 93.
